Agility beyond the hype – What happens when the buzz fades?
That’s when the real work begins.
This talk focuses on sustainability in organizations—not as a trend or a methods toolbox, but as a structural capability. What does it mean to design companies that can continuously adapt, create real value, and do so without burning out people, structures, or the environment?
Organizational sustainability, as supported by LeSS through simplification, team responsibility, and learning, is not an end in itself—it is embedded in social and ecological systems, which every company ultimately depends on.
Drawing from real-world LeSS case studies (e.g. BMW, Y Soft, SolarWinds, and Poster POS), I will show:
- How fewer roles and less hierarchy reduce complexity, travel, and energy use
- How feature teams deliver long-lived, sustainable systems
- How “Green Software by Design” contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals
- How cultural resilience and employee retention emerge from learning-friendly structures
LeSS is not a method, but a structural choice—one that remains stable beyond the hype. While ecological sustainability is not LeSS’s primary focus, the framework can be extended meaningfully to include these aspects.
To close, I will ask the audience:
